The purpose of the nonprofit association Atheists and Other Freethinkers is to promote the civic understanding and acceptance of atheism in our community. Through its educational programs, projects and publications, AOF extends atheistic perspectives concerning the separation of church and state and the right to think and speak freely on these perspectives. AOF was established in the summer of 1993 in Sacramento California, as an independent nonprofit educational association with by-laws, officers, and a board of directors. The association, now a 501(c)3 public benefit corporation for education, is a member society of the Atheist Alliance International. AOF maintains affiliation status with the Council for Secular Humanism, American Atheists, and the American Humanist Association. |
