NAVY LEAGUE

The Navy League is the foremost citizens' organization to serve, support, and stand with all of the U.S. sea services - the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and the U.S. flag Merchant Marine. The Navy League has a network of 270 councils representing more than 60,000 members. The Sacramento Council, with nearly 270 members - 60 joining in 2006, 23 in 2007, and more this year - is one of the largest and most active. It hosts a monthly "Forum" (a dinner meeting featuring an interesting guest speaker), publishes an informative newsletter - The Sacramento Council Log (see 2007 text in News Articles), has a variety of special events, supports "adopted" ships and units, and awards scholarships.

We welcome new members and invite your participation as "Citizens in Support of the Sea Services." Being a sailor or veteran is not a prerequisite. Locally, the council is an affiliate of the SeaPower Forum, http://ourtown.sacbee.com/1010.

The Sacramento Council celebrated its 50th anniversay during 2006; since 1956 the membership has been actively supporting the sea services and related youth activities.
